Launching a very Green Action Plan…

Ahead of this year's World Environment Day on 5 June, we take a look at Rock Trust's Green Action Plan.

4 June 2021

In celebration of World Environment Day, Rock Trust – one of the charity partners that we work with on Future Builders – are launching their Green Action Plan.

The Future Builders programme is built on our belief that the provision of affordable housing, in combination with training and job opportunities, can break the cycle of homelessness for young people. As OVO Energy’s charity, we set out to give children and young people a greener, fairer world to grow up in.

Rock Trust share this mission:

“At Rock Trust, we care about the impact our actions and choices have on the environment.

Our Green Action Plan sets out the steps we are taking to reduce our carbon footprint and the support we provide to our stakeholders to help them reduce theirs too.

We aim to reduce, reuse, and recycle resources; to consider alternative practices to minimise our environmental impact, to adopt sustainable purchasing practices.”

We couldn’t agree more. The Rock Trust’s dedication to creating a Green Action Plan reflects how the importance and urgency of the climate crisis is intrinsically linked with the critical matters in housing and homelessness that they tackle in their daily work.

Not only have they mapped out how they can take action, but they have also centred the young people they support – and their futures – at the heart of the Plan too.

"Above all, we are committed to improving the health, wellbeing, and prospects for young people. Our mission: to prevent youth homelessness and to support young people to build better futures.”

As climate awareness increases and attention turns to COP26, we have a unique opportunity to build momentum and drive change. It is brilliant to see the Rock Trust grasp this moment and we look forward to continuing our work together.
