Our new world-changing vision

To win the war against carbon, the world needs all the help it can get. That’s why, we’ve recently shifted OVO Foundation’s vision so that it matches up with today's needs – and OVO's new sustainability strategy, Plan Zero.

It was time for a change

For the last 5 years, we’ve developed and invested in a mix of exciting projects – all focusing on improving the lives of children and young people. We couldn’t be prouder. But in the light of the climate crisis, we felt the need to sit down and reevaluate our mission.

In Autumn 2019, our key stakeholders, team members and trustees got together to talk about OVO Foundation, what’s working, what we’d change, what future opportunities are out there. The answer? We all agreed that it’s time to align with Plan Zero.

Here’s our brand-new vision

It’s for all children and young people to have equitable access to a sustainable future. Excitingly, the new vision means OVO Foundation will focus more on funding projects that address issues relating to energy and climate change as they affect children and young people.

In the meantime, we’ll look at bringing in the principles of sustainability to our existing projects too (like Future Builders).

To achieve this, we’ve set ourselves 2 ambitious goals

We want to find, develop and invest in projects that help children and young people:

  1. Live in a sustainable community

That’s a place that protects the environment, and pushes for economic security and success. It’s where young people can thrive and start their best future. We’re excited to support ideas that fight for energy access and tackle youth poverty and homelessness in communities around the world.

  1. Learn how to take action on sustainability issues, and play a part in building sustainable communities

Solving the climate crisis is everyone’s responsibility, but sadly not all children and young people know how to make a difference. This is why, through our work, we aim to equip them with the knowledge and right skills they need to feel empowered to make positive change to the planet and protect it for years to come. Along the way, we’re tackling educational inequality too.

These goals will also help us contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals, set up by the UN and adopted by countries and businesses around the world. Our FAQs tell you more about how we do that.

We’re already bringing our new vision to life
We believe that every small action we do locally can ladder up to a positive change, globally. And it’s projects that do this we want to focus on – those that are meaningful to local communities.

We’re investing £1 million to start searching for projects that are in line with our new vision and goals. Read more about all the new partners we’re joining forces with here.
