OVO Foundation is delighted to appoint Gina Cicerone, Executive Director of the Fair Education Alliance (FEA), and Kate Weinberg, Director of Sustainability at OVO, to our Board of Trustees. Both Gina and Kate bring great experience and expertise to help OVO Foundation find and fund innovative projects that give young people around the world a better future. With their support, we can do even more to tackle complex social problems related to energy access, youth poverty and educational inequality.

At the FEA, Gina leads a coalition of over 150 organisations using their collective voice to take action, influence policy and scale impact in order to close the attainment gap between the most disadvantaged children and their wealthier peers. Gina previously led the Teach First Innovation Unit which worked together with entrepreneurs seeking to tackle educational inequality through training, funding and mentoring. The programme enabled 20 start-ups to scale their projects with huge success, seeing over 500,000 pupils benefiting within 5 years. She has also founded her own NGO – Fundacion VASE – focusing on youth leadership and volunteering exchanges. Gina is also a primary school governor and on the Ashoka Venture Board.

Kate has led the development of OVO’s first sustainability strategy ‘Plan Zero’, which sets ambitious aims and targets to reach zero carbon living by 2030. She has more than 15 years of experience in strategic sustainability and climate change as a consultant, manager and lawyer. Kate has broad experience advising governments, civil society, FTSE100 companies and investors on environmental issues and providing strategic advice on the impacts of environmental liability, risk management, and regulatory compliance. She also set up and managed the Legal Response Initiative, a collaborative initiative between NGOs and the private sector providing legal advice, training and support for developing countries in relation to the UN climate change negotiations.

We’re extremely excited to have such brilliant Trustees join us. There is a clear alignment between their experience and OVO Foundation’s focus areas and we know they will play an important and meaningful role in shaping our future. We can’t wait to get started!
