We are delighted to announce the appointment of two new trustees who will play an instrumental role in developing and delivering OVO Foundation’s future strategy. Kemi Akindele and Tom Wilson were unanimously appointed by the board in December 2021 and both bring a depth and breadth of experience that will help the Foundation deliver on its vision to give all children and young people a greener, fairer future.

Kemi is a senior communications professional focusing on building and protecting corporate reputation and developing purpose-driven campaigns. Her experience of working with clients on social purpose means she is perfectly placed to help the Foundation tell its story and bring together different audiences who share a common goal of empowering children and young people to take action on the climate crisis.

As a young campaigner with over 10 years’ experience in climate change campaigning, Tom is passionate about helping to ensure young people are at the centre of key decision-making systems. He will offer a new perspective on our current and future work and will be pivotal in working with the board to ensure that young people feel empowered, supported and valued in order to work towards a future they care about.

Bios for our two new trustees:

Kemi Akindele: In January 2022, Kemi joined WE Communications as its first director of corporate reputation and brand purpose in the UK. Most recently Kemi was Associate Director at freuds where she focused on developing and implementing communications strategies to build trust and shape the reputation of global businesses. As well as developing, implementing and communicating social purpose and sustainability programmes, delivering stakeholder engagement, CEO profiling, narrative building and thought leadership programmes for senior executives, around high-profile events including WEF Annual Meeting in Davos and the UN General Assembly.

Tom Wilson: As a young Climate Activist and advisor, Tom has been campaigning for Climate Justice from a young age. He looks to empower young people to work towards a greener, fairer future through grassroots movements as well as influencing policy and embedding youth accountability within organisations. He is currently studying Natural Sciences specialising in Evolutionary Biology at the University of Durham. As well as sitting on the OVO Foundation board, Tom is a Youth Associate with the Big Change and is a Young Advisor to the Listening Fund with the Blagrave Trust.
